The SB-75 stacks up better to many other 27.5 bikes than it does to its capable 'Super Bike" siblings. See more mountain bike reviews and the best mountain bikes of 2014 on the Bike Magazine's fifth annual Bike Bible. Bikemag.com/2014-bike-bible

It's very interesting watching this almost two years later, knowing that almost everyone has excepted 650b and would find a 26er small and awkward with steep head angles compared to almost all new 650b bikes.

they should have talked both aluminum verse aluminum. and tested back to back. climbing and descending and also in different situations. like berms vs rocky areas. as far as the sb66c goes....carbon...every time you shave weight your inspired to pedal faster and flick the bike around cuz it takes less energy. that's just the way it is. and then put a slacker front end on and wielding techy dh is always easier. when I converted my rz140 front from 26 to 27.5 in the front..... while subtle I could tell it rolled terrain with less resistance. exact same bike..... but there point about the reduction in travel and geometry probably did negate the the gain your looking for in wheel size.

So he found the SB66 aluminum sluggardly compared to competitors yet the carbon version blew his mind? How is 1 pound going to turn a bike from a slug to mind blowing?

Honestly, I would have been more interested in hearing how the SB-75 compared to Yeti's other 27.5" bike, the 575 (or any other 650b bike for that matter). This bike was intended to be a replacement of the ASR-5, with closer geometry to the SB-95. Riders looking for a new bike aren't going to be comparing this bike to a 26'er, they're going to compare it with other bikes of the same wheel size. So as much as I enjoy these reviews, I thought this one was not very helpful, and too negative considering it is a great bike. I test rode four different trail bikes yesterday (Troy Carbon, Mach 6 etc) out in the bush and the SB-75 was by far the funnest and liveliest bike I'd ridden that day – there's definitely nothing wrong with it. If anything, my opinion is that Yeti should have built the SB-75 with the 575's geometry and travel. This is not anything like an SB-66, and it should not have been compared with it.

Have you tested it back to back yet?

You know what I think they shoud build? A 650b front with 26" rear. That would be like the 69er but better, like a dirt bike. You would have the slight roll over advantage of the larger wheel while having the stronger and lighter at the rear while still being playfull and likely would be easy to build. Hmmm

They shouldn't be comparing it to the other yeti bikes, but other 27er bikes because all the problems they mentioned are applicable to other 27ers when compared to their counterparts.

April issue of MBA said the SB75 was legit.. brits still can't say aluminum.
-
Awesome video! But please please do a video on the Specialized Enduro Please!!!!!!!!!!
-
wait for carbon/weight reduction or Yeti to get 6" of travel on the SB75. Most of the 27.5 bikes that i've ridden have been underwhelming so and very few I could fall in love with.
-
what do you guys think about the SB95?
-
this bike is such a piece of crap!! the 650B crap makes a great company like Yeti do something horrible. SB66 C is soooo much better.
-
i hate how manufacturers split bikes into so many categories and then justify it by saying something like 'if you go trail riding, you need 125mm travel. 150mm is WAY too much and 100mm is NO WHERE NEAR enough!!' but if you go enduro you MUST HAVE 160mm travel because 150mm is not enough! where in actual fact, there's a guy at my local riding area who rides a santa cruz v10 and smashes his entire group of friends on carbon hardtails up a very long technical climb. i bet if you put him on a hardtail, he'll smash them if they had a v10.

So sb-66 is better than SB-75. Conclusion !
-
What they are saying in a nice way is that 27.5 is a joke.
-
So you spend 6 minutes comparing a 6" travel carbon bike to a 5" aluminum bike? Wow..... Useless review. Totally absurd how you bash on it for 6 minutes yet actually go ahead and say "this was the best bike of all the 27.5's we tested" makes no sense.
-
This is more like a 26 vs 27.5. Could you guys review this against other 27.5 bikes?
-
Two of the guys are off topic to compare the 66 to 75 is apples to oranges.. The 75 and 66 are different bikes, for different riders. I have ridden them all, 575, 575 650b, 66, 75, 95 and they all fit a niche for an intended purpose. I believe part of the problem for these guys is that once you come off of a 66 you feel invincible, the bike can let you ride deep over your head and come out. The 75 will not quite convey that same feeling, but it still lets you do stupid things and ride away clean. I consider the 75 to be much more a jack of all trades bike. Will it be as fun on slope style as 66 no, will it feel less leggy on xc than the 66 yes. You can go on and on with fine tooth nit picks but I can assure you it is an incredible bike. The one thing I will say is I do look forward to the full carbon version being released. Though the full aluminum version with xo1 race build is 28lbs stock, so not too bad.

Great review. I was thinking of getting the 75 but have gone back to thinking the 66 after your chat.
