Yazoo Sly Rye Porter - Blind Taste Test
Fahrräder, Tests, online, Rezensionen, Bewertungen
Yazoo Sly Rye Porter was sent to us from Tennessee and just by coincidence I had visited this brewery when I was in town for a wedding. However, this is a blind taste test, so my nostalgic feelings for this beer couldn't get in the way of the honest opinions of our reviewers. Find out whether they thought this beer was cat's pajamas in this fun episode of the Better Beer Authority. I'm James Knott and this is your Better Beer Authority. Thanks to Joshua West from Cane Ridge, Tennessee for sending us today's beer -- Sly Rye Porter from theYazoo Brewing Company in Nashville. I'm excited to feature this beer on the show because I've actually been there and had this beer on tap at the brewery. The Yazoo Brewing Company was opened in 2003 by Linus Hall and his wife Lila. They began bottling in 2005 and moved to a new location with a 40 barrel brewhouse in 2010. You can find their beers in Tennessee, Mississippi and northern Alabama. Sly Rye Porter is 5.7 % ABV and 28 IBUs. The brewery describes the beer as a rich, chocolatey English Porter with a clean finish. It is brewed with Maris Otter malts from England and malted rye -- which gives it a spicy, slightly dry finish according to Yazoo. Let the blind taste test begin."

I live in Nashville and have been to the brewery as well. I love their Hefeweizen!

We split a bomber of SUE after we shot this episode. It was tasty!

The best Yazoo beer is the Yazoo SUE! That is a world class smoked high gravity porter, and it has 93 ibu's. ABV is 9%. everything else they make is just average IMO.
-
The ratings are dead on. All of Yazoo's beer is mediocre. We have way better in Nashville and surrounding areas. They are dicks at the company as well.

It's beyond delicious my friend! LOVE me some SUE!! =)

I'm so glad to see you guys review a Yazoo! James, did you get to try the "Hop Project" or any of their other brews while you were in the tap room? Yazoo SUE is my favorite but it's only in liquor stores due to it's 9% ABV.

Where is it going? I just came across them recently so it'd suck to see the show go already.

I again make a plea to you James to keep the BBA alive...I will miss this show bigtime!

Good video as usual guys! Haha I really like the name and the artwork for this one, but it doesn't sound like it has a lot of flavor. Can't win with them all.
-
it sounds like it may be a little too thin for a cask representation. I do want to try this as I like lighter porters.
-
This sounds like my kind of beer. I see it listed as an American Porter, prolly because of the Rye, but sounds more like an English Porter (I am a huge fan of English-style beers). I bet this would be good on Cask. At any rate, I'll keep my eye out for it.

You are the ONLY YouTube user where I watch every video you upload. You stopping depresses me. /wrists

I tried their Pale when I was in Nashville. It wasn't bad. Porter sounded ok from the review

Great review!!! I think I would really like this one being an English style porter. As with the style it always tastes better at cellar temperature. Sly with the alcohol and rye :-)!!! Cheers!!!
-
New to your channel... I enjoyed it. Sounds like they could have traded some of their base malt for more specialty malts along with some more unfermentables to increase mouthfeel . Good job guys
