Thanks for sharing. I'm looking to buy one of these bikes to commute and for pleasure.

Having now owned the Viking e-go bike for over a month now since buying it second hand (roughly 18months old) I'd just like to say its been fantastic and has been taken all over the place. Everyday I get people saying "nice bike" or asking questions about it. I've even been offered more cash than I bought the bike for but wouldn't give it up. Some guy even thought it was a £2000 bike haha. Today I put it in my car boot to take it further afield and it was no problem and will be coming with me on many more outings in the future. Maybe my next adventure will be to take it on a train and then explore further still :)

Biggest issue is they have used a drum brake on the back wheel drum brakes are awful i cant pull the lever hard enough to use it for stopping so the back brake is basically completely useless, i have decided to buy a pedal back brake wheel if you know of them i am fitting a single speed like a bmx as i dont use the gears that much and its 30 gbp from amazon taylors wheels, you can get a 3 speed and 8 speed for 150 gbp, but i thought i'd get the cheapest one check it all fits then if i do need some gearing buy the 8 but that will involve fitting new gear levers etc. otherwise i paid 390GBP new on ebay and rrp is 499 so dont pay the 1500gbp a trusted (what fucking ballshit) seller is trying it on ebay for!

Having just bought a new cyclamatic full size mountain bike I was more than happy but leaving it locked up around town wasn't something I wanted to do as I was scared of it being vandalised or worse yet stolen. So I looked around eBay for a cheap folding bike that I could use and leave locked in town and keep my cyclamtic for when I'm with my bike. I found a Viking e-go bike around 16months old for £150 and took a risk as I hadn't seen the bike in person. When I finally saw it I was a bit shocked as it hadn't been looked after very well but thought I could give it a bit TLC and make it like new again. The battery's led's weren't working, it was a bit rusty dirty etc but did charge as it should. Upon getting it home and giving it a good clean it now looks good as new and here's the bit that surprised me its faster more comfortable and more fun to ride than my new bike and has become my favourite bike. The riding position is much more comfortable and the added rear suspension spring soaks up the uneven roads no problem the saddle is also one of the best I've sat on and feels great. The smaller 20" wheel size makes the bike easier to store and can be folded in half for easier storage. Its only lacking the throttle that my cyclamatic has but surprisingly I don't miss it as having peddle assist and a throttle is a odd combination to me. I found myself using peddle assist 90% of the time anyway, it also increases your range as your not relying on battery power alone. The Viking ego has 3 power modes low-med-high so you can select which you require depending on your route. One final point is the e-go bike has a front hub motor (preferred) as opposed to the rear motor on my cyclamatic this to me is where it should be as it makes wheel removal much simpler should you get a flat tire which we all get from time to time. It also allows a free feeling when you freewheel as opposed to feeling some resistance which a rear motor can. Both bikes get admiring glances when I'm out cycling and I like them both but if I'd have to choose a favourite its the Viking e-go bike as it is the better bike to ride for speed comfort and storage which let's face it are 3 very important features.
