I own this bike and i ride it all over...Its awesome. I bet they turned the air way up and compared it to there 5,000 full suspension bike on rocks. Ride it in the woods and put a comfy seat on it. Brakes are great, shock is great, geometry is perfect for me. 6'-0" 200 lbs. I got a deal so i paid 2,000 for it and its awesome.

A hardtail can handle rougher terrain than they think it can. Maybe rougher on the rider. Everyone can't afford a full suspension bike. I ride my Trek Marlin will a lot of upgrades on plenty of rough mountainous terrain in Arkansas and it handles fine and the Marlin has similar frame geometry to the Superfly You learn to pick your lines better on a hardtail .

Worst review ever!
I got myself the Super Fly 7 2015 recently to replace a 16 year old Gary Fisher Big Sur that have spent its last 10 years as a commuter bike and boy was it worth it. It climbs outstandingly well and I can bike where the side-angle is 40-45 degrees without being anywhere near tipping over in either direction. Only things I can complain about is that the paintjob looks shoddy or done in a wee bit too much hurry. The LBS set-up of the gears were off so I had to look up a good tutorial video on youtube and spend half an evening setting my rear derailleur up from scratch, but when set-up right I got all the gears to work nicely. It is much more fun to take a ride with the new bike than the old, but it definatly feels like "a bigger horse" despite the fact that it is lighter than the old ride. The reason for that must be bigger wheels, longer wheelbase and longer handlebar etc. Also the Rock Shox Reba RL feels really stiff even if you put in much less psi than the manual says. I'd only pump in 60-70% of what the manual says for any rider. -
I wish they would consider...oh, I don't know...more people than themselves. How about the dads out there that want to ride great trails, race occasionally AND have their small child on a kid seat on the back. I can't have a CF or FS bike. I have to have a metal based ride. My only options are highly spec'd alu or steel rides.

the chick on the left is nuts...

Ive thrashed my superfly 8 on some really knarly drops and rocks and so on and its still in prestine condition. They make it sound so breakable.

This review is complete crap. They basically wined about the bikes specs for the entire time rather than giving actual input. I ride my superfly 7 on everything from flow trails to my local single track with 3 foot plus drops and rides extremely well for a 29 hard tail. They complained that they would rather have a full suspension for a couple rocky sections... They obviously have no idea what they are talking about. Mountain biking shouldn't be about fussing over bike specs.

Why do they assume everyone wants a plastic (carbon fiber) bike.
-
The carbon version is not thru axle on the rear ! They quite clearly have no idea !
-
Midwest is the natural habitat of the hard tail? What? The full squish bias is ridiculous in this review. I ride Idaho / Utah AM with a 160 steel hard tail and there is very little out there that doesn't handle the up and down of techy AM better than a hard tail. Everyone has a right to their opinions, but the opinions in this review are are just inane.

BORING!! how about showing the bike more than " rullbull-ish " ride by shots.... and the reviewers seemed SMUG and Condescending ...
-
Basically didn't talk about how the bike rode at all. Complained about hardtails. Waffled about other bikes in the range. Meh. Bikemag's reviews are shite.
-
I hate it when they do reviews in this setting. The sound sucks and the women's comments and views are garbage! Every review with these two ladies suck compared to when the guys does a review with his buddies.

If you think $2300 is what the average rider spends on an "entry level" hard tail you've been riding freebies and living in lala land for too long!
-
No click pedals??
-
They had mentioned only a $150 more or so for a carbon. That carbon steps down a whole level on components, so to me that is a big deal. Otherwise it would be a no brainer to go w/ the carbon.

these chicks looks busted!

It's too bad the reviewers are so biased towards full suspension. This is an extremely fast bike and when the Superfly 5 only costs you 1500 it is great value for the money. I ride this bike in Arizona and it does a great job, I wish they would have focused more on the fact that it does feel very nimble. I haven't ridden the carbon model either but I doubt the ride is improved enough to risk snapping that frame. You buy the carbon frame for weight reasons. If you feel like you need more comfort don't go to the carbon model go to the FS version.
