Trek Stache 9 29+ Review and First Impressions
Fahrräder, Tests, online, Rezensionen, Bewertungen
Join Nick as he discusses the Trek Stache 9 29+ after a week of test riding. The Trek Stache 9 is a very capable trail bike with an aluminum frame, adjustable length chainstays, an elevated drivetrain side chainstay, and many other features that differentiate it from any other bike currently out there on the market. As more riders explore the 29+ platform, many will wonder how a midfat bike could be utilized differently than the bikes already available in their stable and possibly how it could replace many of the ones they already own. Nick discusses how this bike is different from the other bikes on the market such as the Surly Krampus, Carver Gnarvester, as well as other 29plus bikes, 27.5plus bikes, fat bikes, and other 29er bikes. If you have ridden the Stache, let us know in the comments what we got right or wrong based on your experience so our viewers can know more about this bike that is the only major manufacturer's 29+ released to date. Is that a stick-on beard?

$3500!! Holy Crap! You can get a 27.5+ full suspension for about $2800

What wolf tooth chainring is that and was there any other modifications needed to switch out the chainring. Also what dropper is on this bike?
-
how will it do in shorter cross country races, can it keep up with a std hardtail?

Cool bike but the price is crazy. You can get a good full suspension for that much. I just couldn't go for it at that price.

How you feel about 29+ vs fatbike? I personally believe that 29+ might take the place of the fatbike, the bottom bracket width is much narrower on the 29+ and it makes it nicer to pedal and easier on the knees.

I just bought one of these ,but it's a stache 7 and believe me it flyes round corners compared to my ghost 29 er with 2.2 trail kings on , this bike rolls over anything ,like I have ever rode , you won't believe how much fun this bike is .

What about mud? Aren't the tyres to wide?

You mentioned your personal bike is a El Mariachi. If you had to buy a bike again between the Stache or the El Mar what would you get? I'm debating what would be the best bike to have for long term. Ability to ride long distances and multi terrain is what I'm interested in. I currently ride steel but am open to try new things. How would you compare the two bikes?

Did you feel any difference between the rear Boost 148 to the Krampus 135? (If you tried the OPS with optional 142, please comment on that, too.) Finally, aside the compatibility of the front hub (100 vs 110), if you did place a FS fork on the Krampus, would that change your conclusions on the Stache 9 vs. Krampus? Would you lean more to the Krampus for your 90% of your riding? Thx. Great review.

Hi Nick,
Would love to see some ride footage of the stache. Also have you had any experience with thule pack and pedal range?? They do a universal mounting rack which would turn the stache into an exploring machine!
Looking forward to seeing where you take this channel.
