Hello, is the shimano alfine no brake disc, or you just didn`t put the disc brake? I'm making this question because, I maybe doing a bike with the shimano alfine, and I don`t no if their is a shimano alfine with disc brake and, another that doesn't use the disc brake.

I was looking at doing something similar, how much did you spend on this bike?

Hi, Bryan, is it possible to convert to belt without the alfine hub but using the same sprockets? I`m trying to convert my district to belt but without the added shimano alfine. Thank you.
-
this is awesome :D
-
Hi Bryan,
why didn't you use district with belt drive straight away and only replace the hub? -
That's a fantastic commuter. Love it.
-
Hi, would you mind to list the items of your upgrade and where you bought them? Many Thanks! Great Bike!

This concept is awesome, I always thought of such a thing being in existence during my youth. When I was 12 years old, I owned a chain driven three wheeled bicycle with a free spinning... It had to be oiled every so often.

Nice video, nice choice using ratatat.
-
ok thanks for your answer
-
Not really sure on that...It' a free wheel design. If there is a way to lock it up I wouldn't know how.
-
You can check with El Camino directly. I'm not really sure.
-
can the gear be fixed with the shimano alfine? or must necessarily have a free wheel?
-
Not everyone needs 33 gears some people do just fine with one. Belt drives can be lighter. Belt drives last 10,000 miles, so while it may be harder to find, you will have to find one 12X less often. Also you won't have to replace the cog or chain ring. So long term there is a cost advantage. I'm not saying you should buy one, I'm just not sure why you seam so opposed to it. An open standard would make belt drives more popular, but I guess the manufactures don't see the advantage.

Do you know anyone with a trek 7.6fx with a belt drive alfine conversion. If not could el camino do the conversion?
