well they have plus sized tires so why not have minus sized tires.

The 26" wheels are much better if your doing any real mountain biking, you know like riding through the woods, and up and down mountains. Most of the people I know who ride 29ers don't have any mountain biking skills and ride on flat wide worn out trails. Or just commute on pavement.

You just forgot to mention the most important thing, basic of mechanics:
27 and 29 wheels are heavier, and it's weight in motion, the opposite of what is good for an agile and dynamic bike = Fun bike to ride!!!
The 2017 (29) Trek Fuel EX7 weights 1,5 kg more than my 2011, part of it is in the wheels...
Go ride your trucks hipsters I'll keep my mountain goat! Pure performance is NOT MTB spirit. FUN is! -
I recently bout me the 2017 Cannondale Catalyst 1 in red and oh it is so nice. But i think i'm gonna buy a second bike and it will probably be the Trek Marlin 6 2017. I rode it and just loved it. I don't know what it was about it. I think it was the nice wide handle bars and the perfect balance it had when standing up and riding. Also thinking of looking on CL and seeing about a 26er for just the pure tool around ride.

Is it possible to upgrade my 26er to the 11 speed system? I know fuck all about bikes

this is when business and marketing people take control over the company instead of engineers

I'm a biker from the 2000-2008 era, my mate cleared out his shed and gave me an Intense Tazer VP frame and Manitou Minute Fork, been building up a more retro 26inch rig to get back out again and loving it, Tioga Tires, Middleburn cranks, Sun Rhyno rims etc. eBay is my friend for those discontinued parts.

I can't find new bits for 26" bike I want new rim braking wheel's but there aren't many choices I don't need disc brakes or 27.5 or 29" bike so I buy second hand tat!

To some this up in one sentence: "26" bikes have been around longer, you're probably more used to it, and the smaller wheels might make you feel more zippy."
Saved you three minutes. -
why the stab at morgan hill? specialized hometown im guessing?

My friend got a mint mid 90s Gary Fisher Montare for free. Too many good vintage bikes out there to pay mind to the frenzy.

Watch out! The new "boost" frame tech is only a way to use the same frame on various wheel sizes. A little wider for the "I give up" 650b PLUS group.(that's the middle fat tire). A little more clearance for 650/29 crossover. I've tried both, and both are quite a compromise. Too mush "cush" and weight for the PLUS and too much centrifugal/centripetal effect on both. Pedal strike, twitchy steering, odd seat/bottom bracket relationship. Some are hard to stand and pedal while some are too sit-up-and-beg position. We will all have to wind up with 650b for product availability. All those dream components including high end wheelsets and suspension are at a great bargain right now, so if you like you 26r, keep it.

tried a 29 for a year. I hate the slow response and it was really heavy. Currently using a 27.5 for my casual ride and 26 for my race. (specialized epic 2008 and 2005 trance) Hope to see the 26 inch live incase my two bikes need to be retired. smaller wheel really helps in weight reduction of full susp setups

Go the 26" er!!!
-
larger wheels sux. 26 or even smaller wheel size with fatter tires is the future.
-
i cracked the frame on my full suspension 26" and don.t have money.....what do i do now?😀
-
26" WILL NOT DIE
-
The worse thing is when you have spent a shed load on a titanium framed Lynskey bike with XT components, Fox 32 fork and 26" wheels and know it is depreciating in value and will soon be obsolete

Here on the east coast we ride a lot of roots and rocks, and bigger wheels shine in this type of terrain. The proof shows in time comparisons on Stava. I rode a 26 inch for many, many years, and recently switched to a 27.5 Scott Genius. The new bike (same rider) has crushed my old times with new PRs. I hate switching back to my 26 and bogging down over roots. Bigger wheels are better!
