Hey Calvin, how about showing the actual axle?
-
Bent axles occur more easily with older style freewheel (screws on to hub) systems. There is a fairly long length of axle on the drive side unsupported by bearings. With the more modern freehub/cassette systems there is an axle bearing inside the freehub body just behind the locking. The axle is better supported and less likely to bend. This is one of the reasons Shimano developed this system-it's more reliable. Also, there is no need to replace the ratcheting mechism every time cogs are replaced.
