"Node.js is an open-source, cross-platform JavaScript runtime environment for developing a diverse variety of tools and applications. Although Node.js is not a JavaScript framework, many of its basic modules are written in JavaScript, and developers can write new modules in JavaScript. The runtime environment interprets JavaScript using Google's V8 JavaScript engine." (Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Node.js) Due to its importance, it is understandable that it has become sort of a popular tool for programmers and software developers. However, just as it happens with lots of other tools, learning it can be very difficult. There are a lot of information right now on the internet and trying to learn everything can be almost impossible if you go through all the literature of the language. So, what do you do to specialize in Node.js/Full Stack Development? What strategy can you use to make it work for you? Watch this video and find out! Whats your opinion on learning PHP for 2017 and beyond? I'm thinking of taking the time to learn PHP because I would like to do some freelancing work and the overwhelming majority of work comes from CMS like wordpress. Would be cool if you would do a vid on PHP!

I thought I was watching Bro science

Im using shen-scheme running on chibi-scheme, but im having problems with JavaScript port of Shen, I could get it to work on Firefox but not chrome/IE any advise?
-
That's my question! Thanks John! Really appreciated, and will be following it to the letter ;) keep up the great work

Excellent point to learn for a concrete project. So many courses just flap around in the abstract and I end up wondering, "what the hell did I just do?"
-
John, I absolutely agree with you. Why do so many universities do so poorly at teaching the pragmatic stuff and so great at the theory?
-
Hey!! can you do a video on whether to choose android or Java j2ee after learning java??
-
John, I'm sure you've answered this in a previous video, but where do you live? Is it Tampa, FL or San Diego, CA?
-
thanks for this video !!

Node.js is just another tool to build app...
trial and error if you like it great, otherwise move on... -
Just out of curiosity: I'm going through Free Code Camp and learning/learned JavaScript, HTML, CSS, JQuery, etc. I'm one project away from completing the Front End Development certification. If anyone knows about Free Code Camp, what do you think of it as a JS and Full Stack Development teaching method?
-
Yep, don't learn things just because they exist — first define what you're thinking about building, then use why as a filter, if the idea makes practical sense, then proceed to figure out the how part. The end should justify the means.
-
You don't need to be a full stack to get your first job, stick with the front-end since you're already good with js. Make sure you can do all the mundane tasks of the front. Pick up a popular framework: angular or react. Play around with those free public APIs and come up with an impressive project.

Memememe ememe xD where is the grey part? I love this stuff xD Especially when you go serious about it xD -
When you are 6'3 and the Iphone 6 is just perfect size for you. When the masses are below 6ft and that iPhone 6 is a pain for them lol
-
You are right. The right way to learn is to actually build something.

Node.js has made its way into test automation in Colorado now. Still unsure if I like that or not.
