Should You Use A 27.5" or a 29" Mountain Bike?

http://bumsteadbikes.com (909) 984-9067 One of the biggest controversies in mountain biking today is "Do I ride 27.5(650b) or 29? Lloyd got a few rides on his brand new Fuel EX 8 27.5, and in this video he tells you all about his thoughts and experience, as well as some of the science of which wheel size is best. 27.5" - Very fast, nimble, accelerates quickly and brakes efficiently 29" - Rolls over rocky, rutted terrain better. Better traction on technical climbs Each of the wheel sizes has value, it really depends on the terrain and your technical ability as to which is the right bike for you. what is effecient or better in flat road then 27.5 or 29ers

Neither I will take my 26er if I want a 27.5 I will simply put a larger tire on my 26. Not enough difference between 27.5 and 26er except for a weight penalty and 29ers are to damn big too slow to accelerate and to slow to steer. My full carbon trek elite 9.9 ssl is a 20lbs rocket on the downhills and up. You barley need to pedal it picks up speed so fast its incredibly quick steering lets you blast through switchbacks and really tight twisties. And when its time to hammer the climbs just click the remote lockout and its nasty stiff and climbs like a mountain goat I climb just as good as any 29er on my 26. Nothing like it.

Right on! Nice points broman! Thanks!

blah, blah, blah... take the camera out on the trail!

Thank you for the informative video. My only criticism is the poor audio quality. Hope you'll work on it very soon.

Umm, you need both. I like to race xterra, so nothing is faster than a nimble 29er. But when i go to our jumpy, pumpy enduro stuff, i want the 67 degree low slack, short chainstay 27.5
-
If you are tall and need an XL frame, is it better to go for 29er wheels? Or that absolutely doesn't matter?
-
I'm a complete novice so i'd like some advice, My Bike is a 29 er with disc brakes is it possible to buy some nice light 27.5 wheels and they'll fit ok ?
-
Totally disagree... I am an extremely experienced rider and racer and on technical single track, nasty rock gardens, switch backs and especially on technical climbs with hard to roll over rocks" The 29er is a nightmare. For me it just feels like a lot of bike to organise as opposed to the nimble fun and agility of my old 26er's with acceleration accuracy on climbs which I am hoping will translate into a 27.5.

Can you swap 27.5s onto a 29er frame, such as the Trek Fuel EX 5 29?
-
The perfect balance... 27.5"

if im 186cm and i want fast but handled mtb bike to have fun is 27.5x1.90 with frame 21 good? im thinking about UNIBIKE FLITE 27.5 from 2015. Regards

Thanks for that video its explain a lot of points to me if I will change my 26" to 27.5" much better than 29"

i used to ride on 26er mtb on which it was really easy to make turn and push brake at any circumstances... nowdays I've been on 29 for more than 6 months and I feel that it's really hard to make turn while running at full speed... there been a day I almost hit wall while trying to make turn on 29 wheeler. On 26 wheeler it was really easy to make turn even at the moment of full speed and rocky riding. the only benefit of riding 29wheeler is that I get to feel much better on normal speed and climbing uphill and downhill is much faster than 26 wheeler mtb. on plain I cannot beat 26 wheel rider as I am not being able to rotate my paddle cranks faster than those of riders on 26er mtb due to having longer paddle cranks on 29er.
