Shimano's top-selling XT groupset has been updated with plenty of top-of-the-range tech from XTR. Neil took a closer look at the Sea Otter Classic. Subscribe to GMBN: http://gmbn.eu/Subscribe Shimano XT is the most-used groupset in the mountain biking world. It's race ready and offers top of the range performance for all riders. To update their second-string groupset, Shimano looked to their range-topping XTR groupset; there's plenty of trickle-down tech on show with XT. The great thing about XT is the range that it offers. Whether you want 3x, 2x or 1x, XT could be the Shimano groupset for you. Are you going to buy the new XT? Comment below and let us know your thoughts. i run the 3x11 option and i find it excellent, specially the front shift, it is perfect

When u say 11/42 is that to say the last ring in the back is 42T & the 1 in the front is 11T?? Wouldn't that make it a bit easier to move then a 42T up front & a 16T in the rear of a single speed?? I have a shitty (I like it but by comparison to the bike you all run its just a shitty entry level bike) Connondale Trail 6 29er I ride here in NYC just to get around. Would like to switch to a 1 by is it called... Just to make things simpler & the bike a bit lighter.

I currently have a 3x10 setup. Could I just get this Shimano cassette and put on my bike? With 3 chainring a up front?

is the host the one from the series heroes?

Marketing fail going on with the 'XT is more important to us' gaff. You mean, you make more profit because of the volume of sales, so the customers who spec XTR or Saint are down the food chain, as the total revenue pool is less. All of a firms products should be of equal importance, as Henry Ford and Steve Jobs pointed out.

looks WELL NICE

Must Have!!

Awesome cranckset with a symmetrical mounting for your chainrings... So forget the 104 mm standard and forget mounting other rings. Will be hunting for an old XTR set

Love it! Shimano learned 15+ years ago with the Capreo to not go below 11 teeth as they have awful friction (highly acute wrap with a muddy chain is awful for efficiency) and didn't last long ( all that stress pulling on about two teeth made for quickly wearing out). And yes, there are plenty of riders who benefit from the three chainring choices- triples for those who actually bike to the bike trailheads (but a 34,44 would be awsome for that purpose). Single for racerheads or those who just love their 34 tooth front rings-( just work on your climbing strength and spinning smoothness), and doubles for Everyone else. Now if they only made it compatible with 11 speed road groups the cross, tourists, and commuters would be ALL over this groupset!

So there is no point ever investing in xtr parts because the year after they will use all the technology and design to make lower model parts such as XT.Si you have wasted you money on XTR :)

so that cassette will fit on my current dt swiss 350 / 10 speed hub ?
-
What frame do you recon they use for their test bike?
-
Uped it game and price.

Hold on, by turning off the clutch you change the chain tension and get cleaner shifts?
Does this apply to the Shadow+ system in my 2014 XT derailleur? Or is that purely to stop the chainslap and has nothing to do with tension? -
Wow, I'm impressed!
Looking forward to this group set -- may be my chance to upgrade to 2x11. :) -
Freckling love it!!!!!! Shimano have done it again!
