Mountain Bike Tyre Tread And Pattern Guide

Get your tyre tread right and you'll be able to ride faster out on the trail. Subscribe to GMBN: http://gmbn.eu/Subscribe Whether you're on 26, 27.5 or 29 inch wheels, what's far more important is your tyre pressure and the tyre tread/pattern that you're using. Ultimately, it comes down to selecting the right tread for the conditions; get this wrong and no amount of tyre pressure magic (letting them down) will help. Get it right, and you'll fly down the trails. Check out our guide to tyre treads for different conditions and disciplines and let us know how you get on! what do u think is a better winter tire for the pacific northwest in the usa?? nobby nic or a conti trail star apex with chili pepper compund?? which would be better for wet roots and rocks?? I'm a newbie just getting into it and finally able to ride after my foot healing up a little after breaking it.

What tyre would be advised for a bike I will use for literally everything? I just bought a 29er I will be using for cross country, trail riding and even commuting. Can I compromise with a tyre for all of those or would I NEED to have a completely separate set of tyres for the commuting part?

this guy likes to talk about nobs a bit too much 😅

Any general tread suggestions for riding roots? Almost more roots than dirt around here. Tire pressure makes a big difference, but how about tread?

I asked the guys at my local bike shop if they would pick a Maxxis High Roller 2 or a Maxxis Ardent. Everyone told me to go with the ardent. They also said go bigger in the front but that means a 27.5x2.25 rear and 27.5x2.4 front. Thats kind of a big difference in width. Is that supper noticable or should I just go with 2.4 front and rear? I ride a 27.5x2.35 front and rear right now so that would mean getting a bigger front and smaller rear. Is going from a 2.25 to a 2.4 a huge difference? And would you say HR2 or Ardent. And would it be good to do a 2.25 Ardent Rear and a 2.3 HR2 front? Either way I go im converting to tubeless! Thanks for all the help

I treat my bike like a whore: big knob, lots of rubber, and lots of grip.

Okay, so I'm wondering: I have a hardtail, 29er, that I use for going up and down the hills. I ride quite enduroish trails and am not worried about rolling resistance going up, but more about comfort and grip going down. I have a 2.4 X-King (in regular version) in the front and a 2.3 Ground Control (control version) in the back.
Should I switch them around? I realise most people would prefer a wider tyre up front but since the GC has larger knobs and the XKing is wider, I imagine it would be the best of both worlds. Any input? -
i started watching this in 2015. i didnt know the other meaning of knob and just finished my research
i hope the other 5mins are worth watching
