This is great! I really need someone to help me with fitting my bike (bought it 3 days ago). I am a musculoskeletal physiotherapist in Australia and just getting into trail riding (climbs, downhills, jumps, etc). I was born with quite deep acetabulum. Because of this, I only have around 90 degrees passive hip flexion range. If I try to lift my knee higher, my lumbar spine flexes and the back becomes really sore. This has been a problem for all of my life and has resulted in lumbar disc and hip labral injuries. I feel it worst when I climb in a seated position. I ride a 2016 Giant Trance 2, with a dropper post. I have thought I may need my handle bars higher or my seat lower (probably should modify the former). Or perhaps I need them closer. Any advice would be awesome. Thanks for the video btw :)

Good video with useful info but went off to many tangents. When I purchased my bike I wasn't even fit to it, when I asked are you going to fit me to it, I was told he set it up more or less to my height and weight and I should be ok! Going to take it to somewhere else to have it fit to me.

I have been struggling with right knee "agitation", because pain isn't a great way to describe it. So I've tried moving the clips on my shoes, moving the saddle, the post. I think my local BSGs are awesome but maybe not able to deal with the finer points of fitting. They fit me to my first clip in, I was back a few weeks later. My knee feels fine during the ride but after, a little sore. So in essence I only ride every other day to save it. Is it maybe because it is what it is, or does anyone have any suggestions. Im a few weeks out from getting my new rig and I want to get it dialed in out of the gate.

Overall, not impressed. He gives some good theoretical info-info that I've heard a thousand times before. Maybe he should be fitting road bikes. He does not seem to realize how dynamic the body is in relation to the bike for mountain biking and that riders have their own individual styles. I like to stretch out and move around on the bike. A bike that fits me perfectly on paper usually feels to cramped (for me personally) Also, he does not seem to have much understanding of basic bike terminology. Terms like Damping, Q-factor, and cockpit are absent. He says how important proper suspension setup is-sets sag with not even a mention of compression or rebound damping. Concepts like tire pressure, and leg bone length in relation to crankarm length, stem length, bar width, lever angle and reach are absent. What about the most basic question.. how do the adjustments feel to the rider? Better/worse? Get your fit into the general ballpark, then go ride and fine tune from there. Adjust one thing at time in small increments-that will get you there.

Your video looks good . Just a couple of things : You will have to take the riders flexibility into account before you decide his seat post height. Gluts and hamstring flex is very important to measure. Also his toe reach for lower back . You must remember your limited to stretch on a bike so perfect setup is important.
