i just bought similar bike from ebay, 350 watts 11 ah 36 volt battery, it was from china and was not restricted, so hit 52 kph straight out the box, lots of fun, i too didnt buy a helmet untill i noticed the speedo. unfortunately it is not road legal in the uk, and i could face a £1000 fine and have it seized...(not so much fun).

Well and this without any helmet.... good luck

And the bike itself looks like...?

I would like to buy such a bike. Where is this possible here in the US? Thanks,

Personally, I don't think there is much risk at all. Yes, the motor is running for longer so in theory it will wear out quicker (bearings etc). But then it is over engineered so I cannot see this being a significant problem. Just stick to Tour 3 or below and don't run it too much in Speed mode and it should be perfectly OK. I have been running it for months with no issues at all. The display of the speed will be wrong (about half what is really is) so you need to consider this when using it.

That's great. I've been looking for a way to tune the bike for a while now. Is there any risk using this dongle in your opinion? I suppose also the odometer gets half the distance, like speedometer the does?

Google "Pro-Cycling-Golla" and check out their eBay store. I have installed their Bosch dongle on my Scott bike several months ago and it works really well. It makes the bike come alive. Motor no longer cuts out at 25 km/h. Best mode for battery life and speed is Tour 2. Eco 3 works well too. Speed 3 is very fast. 100% recommend getting the cable dongle - it works very well (I recommend soldering the joins rather than using the connectors - this makes for a much more reliable join).

What hardware are you talking about that can fool the controller?

New transmission CVT design by BitRaptor. Is a continuously variable transmission CVT gear only (the only one functional in the world), very compact and lightweight, and which could replace the current systems both for efficiency, simplicity and not least the costs. Because this CVT work only with pinions is better the all other systems by efficiency and high torque transmission. In the web page bitraptor com you will find more explanations, drawings and a short video of a basic prototype.

WOW! that was scary with the baby carriage. try not to kill anyone on the sidewalk k. and wear a helmet.

you can but a Scott bike with this Bosch motor for around £2200. I just bought one after saving up for quite a while. It can also be de-restricted to push it above the 25 km/h cut off limit by using a secondary piece of hardware which fools the motor controller into making it think you are doing say, 20 km/h when in fact you are doing more like 40 km/h or more. Thing is, it is best to limit the top speed to max 40 km/h as more than this is stupidly fast and it will drain the battery fast!

Well done...!!! Best wishes from Bavaria / Germany. :-)

I don't know. I guess so. It is my brother's bike.
