Id ride clipless but no store carries my shoe size (15 men) but i cant wait until i can get the chance to get on some clips.
-
Why arer clips such a problem the first time i went mountainbiking i went to a quite technical trail with clips, and i never had a problem. Whats the point about it?
-
Did my first ride on an Shimano spd today. It's fucking awesome.
You can put all your power to a sprint or a short powerful hill climb.
Flats = It's like a car crankshaft which is not connected to its cylinders.
Clipless = crankshaft that is connected.
You won't have a higher top speed. Efficiency might improve because of hard sole and connection to the pedal.
But you will be able to put all of your power to use when you need it. Like sprints or climbs, without one of your legs playing superman and dangling in the air.
Especially when pedaling out of saddle. Sitting down isn't that much different than flats.
I climbed climbs using harder gear ratios than I was able without clipless. I felt like mountain goat, going much faster uphill than I was able to do before.
I did some track stands, stoppies and wheelies on a parking lot. And did crash once while doing trackstand, got a little blood dot on my hand.
Tip: When you are tired after riding for 4 hours, just unclip on a traffic light don't do trackstands and stuff. I was on a pedestrian sidewalk luckily not on a road and had a close call but managed to unclip in a last millisecond. Plan ahead.
Did a 6 hour ride today, couldn't get enough of cycling.
Bought Shimano PD-M520, tension is completely on minus. Also SIDI breeze rain shoes. Happy so far.
And I feel more pro now clipping in and out hahaha.
Tried pedaling with normal shoes also. It's no problem if you have to go to the shop or do a short commute. You just have to take it easy. -
There's a glitch in the matrix.

why is Scottys voice so low and silent in this vid

just started riding cleats today, fell over 3 times within the first 15 minutes. Is there a way to make the the shoes click out earlier without loosening the cleat?
-
seems scotty did not have his 60-80 grams of carbs....

What deters me is crashing while clipped. That's something you can't "practice". It will just happen and your instincts will adjust, but you'll still have to take it in the first times. :\

I tried clips once for a few rides, the shoes are in a box in my closet collecting dust and the pedals are sold. Five tens and flats is more grip than Ill ever really need.
-
with my new egg beaters, I find I really have to go ham on climbs to not lose momentum and topple over. but with my flats, my feet would come off the pedals on tricky descents. both of these things are kind of aggravating problems. I just want to be comfortable riding. any tips?

What his shoe at the 4.37 mark
-
I love flats, but I hate the feeling of my feet coming off the pedals on jumps or drop offs :(
-
what suspension do you recommend for the streets
-
I just switched to these exact pedals (crank brothers mallat e enduro) with 510 shoes, and have the hardest time unclipping! I tip over every ride! Can you adjust them to make it easier to unclip?

how many bikes does Neil have?!

I was a road rider that started using clipless several years before I started XC mountain biking. This was back in the mid 90s. Even with many miles on the road, it was pretty scary to trail ride clipped in.
Once I got the hang of it, I couldn't imagine riding trails NOT clipped in. Now I would be scared to ride trails on flats. Clipless give so much more control and a lot of extra power on the steep climbs.
My advice to a noob is to ride trails with flats to start. Learn to shift and control your bike well before going to clipless. Then ride maybe 100 miles or so on the road to get used to the clipless. Put it all together and take the plunge, you'll never go back to flats after making the hills you failed to climb without clipless... -
I'm very much a beginner and my bike is also for beginners... but after my last spill, I am thinking about upgrading my pedals to clipless.
One calf looks like it was mauled by a dog, the other is completely covered in bruises. I was lucky that I was going as fast as I was because when both of my feet slipped off the pedals, my feet slipped slid down the road as I straddled the bike until I slowed down enough to hop back on the pedals.
My only fear is the pedals plus the shoes will be more expensive than my bike was :P I live in Poland where income is considerably lower that (let's say) the UK, -
Does anyone know what kind of shoes is the guy with the neon GT running?
