How about trail centre vs natural terrain riding, I was discussing this with a mate at Macclesfield forest i don't like trail centre's that much as there's a lot of north shore and most of the tracks are so compacted from being overpopulated with riders they're too smooth.
Whereas riding down a disintegrating track like Cumberland clough/brook or the ice cream run in Rivington over loose rocks and boulders is far more challenging and rewarding to me than some ad-hoc jumps and horrible north shore that my friend prefers!. -

Only tip I'd also add is, if you are following another ride, don't get to close, because they could possibly kick up stones into your stanchions

I remember I was riding a trail blind once and it was super steep which led into a rock drop about a meter and a half high which at the time was much bigger than any other one I did and I couldn't stop and landed it fine.
