Personally I learned how to ride backwards on a slide inclination. You just find a driveway, or a small hill, very gradual. And what you're going to do is you're going to just have your bike sitting at the top of the hill backwards. Sit on it or stand on it, I mean I know this isn't 2000, 1999 so a lot of you won't be sitting down and riding backwards. Unless you do have the higher seat post where you can do that, personally I learned with the higher seat it is much easier to roll backwards or ride backwards when you have the seat post a little higher. What you're gonna want to do is start with one foot on, and kind of give yourself a little push to get the momentum going in reverse. Naturally if you have a driver or a free wheel what's going to happen is your cranks are going to start spinning backwards because that's the engagement period or the engagement point. So, you're going to have to pedal backwards as fast as you're rolling. You can kind of use the pedals, putting some pressure on the pedals to slow down your roll back. But what you're gonna do is you're gonna counter steer so as you start to fall safe to the left you're gonna turn to the right and get the wheel to roll back under you. And what that's gonna do is it's going to put you back on top of the bike and it's all about positioning. When you're sitting on the bike or when you're standing over the bike, you wanna have your body directly over the crank, you wanna have your arms in a very comfortable position so that you can steer and make sure that you keep the bike directly under you. Also leaning the bicycle will help if you feel like as you're pedaling you know the bike is starting to lean one direction you can kinda lean the other way and pull it back up. Counter steering in combination with leaning the bicycle and using that point of engagement on your crank to kind of help control the bike as your riding backwards will really help you learn how to ride backwards. And that's how you ride backwards on a bicycle.
