I occasionally have this problem on my Laguna 1.9 dCi (won't start when warm, but OK when cold).
But I really can't comprehend why doing what was shown here would make any difference!
My usual 'fix' is actually much easier than this though ... simply wait for the engine to cool down a little.
Usually after about 15 minutes or so, it will start OK without further action.
I had the 'crank sensor' (not sure if that is the same thing here?) changed recently, but the fault still occurs (intermittently - about every month or so).
In the latest incident, the AA guy said it was the 'Cam sensor' (camshaft position sensor).
He sprayed it with freezer fluid and replaced it, and it started OK.
So I'm now going to change that ... and it doesn't have the metal tip shown here!
P.S. Couldn't see much of what you were trying to show under the bonnet.
You need much better lighting than that to get a decent image on a camcorder. They really don't work very well in such low light.
Also, I would suggest holding the camera more steadily ... when moved so fast it's very hard to see anything! Ideally use a tripod, or at least rest the camera on something solid. Start with a wider shot and zoom in SLOWLY! -
I had problems ages ago with my Renault scenic not starting, but would clutch start really easy. Many mechanics & NRMA couldn't solve it. My son in law had a peek, cleaned the crank sensor. Brilliant. Now after a couple of years it is happening again, I intend trying to fix it myself after watching this, will get back to you on this, if a 'blonde' can do it - anyone can!!!!

What does the TDC sensor do?

Hi Adam, before you cleaned the sensor was you getting an intermittant red light on the dash?

Why does my Clio 1.5dCi TDC work ok when cold but not when hot. I've thoroughly cleaned it, so it's not due to it being dirty?
-
Same prob with our garage, plugged it in, nothing came up so ill clean the sensor when it gets back and see how it goes.
Thanks -

Got a 2001 RX4 and had starting issues and have just located and cleaned the TDC sensor and it has been starting no problems. Hopefully this is the end of the no starts!

It still surprise me, how some people don't know about Stutterolax Secrets (do a google search), despite the fact that a lot of people completely eliminated their stuttering problem with this system. Thanks to my buddy who told me about Stutterolax Secrets, I finally eliminated my embarrassment for good with natural and fast approaches.

it should be in the same place. Its possible one of the nuts is missing on that connector you have found. Take it off and clean the sensor up.
