How To Measure A Bike Frame
Fahrräder, Tests, online, Rezensionen, Bewertungen
Many times when I see a bike for sale, the frame size is not listed. I ask the seller what the frame size is, and they don't know. And they don't know how to measure it. I usually explain how to measure the frame size, but sometimes they still don't understand since they don't know what a seat tube or a crank is. So I made this video to show how to measure a bicycle frame. **If the video was useful or interesting please give it a "thumbs up" and consider subscribing. -Website: http://www.RJTheBikeGuy.com -Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RJTheBikeGuy -Subscribe Here: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=shyflirt1 -YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/RJTheBikeGuy

Is it always multiplied by 2.54? Or is it depending on the bike?
-
Excellent explanation... THANKS! :)

Thanks - that cleared it up for me. I didn't know how to measure the frame size and probably wouldn;t be thinking about it but somebody mean B**** stole the rear wheel from my bike over the weekend and now I'm really hacked off! If I find the guy who stole it, I'll help him push his head up the inside of the frame tube to make it bigger. If you want some new wheels, go out and buy them, don't steel them from someone else - aaaaagh!

This is just a matter of opinion, but I feel it is better to measure center to center, or from the center of the crank spindle to the center of the top tube. The length of the seat tube that extends above the top tube can vary in length depending on the manufacturer, and it is an irrelevant aspect of the geometry when determining a frame size. The top of the seat would be more relevant, but since the seat post is adjustable this would be pointless. The point at which the top tube meets the seat tube is a much more significant aspect of the geometry as this is where the 2 'levers' meet and where force is applied. Often when I look at the frame size of a bike I'll think it's larger than it really is since I always go with this European method of measuring, but I guess it's just because I have always measured that way. And that's my 2 dollars worth.

thank you

OMG...why is there even a "thumbs down" option?? RJ The Bike Guy, your instruction was perfectly fine and detailed properly. Some of these responses make me question public schooling.

arms blocking what youre actually doing
-
Dude, ... you are blocking the camera! Makes the explanation kind of useless.
-
Fucking idiot blocks everything out with his hand and arm.
Next time why don't you stand in front of the camera so you can show even less. -
Thanks! 'Was helpful right away!

What if it's ISP?

A bicycle frame looks like a triangle and I had no clue how to determine its size. Watching this video was very simple to understand, thank you for this guy who made this video and he also explained how to convert from inch to metric (1inch =25.4 mm). What surprise me is a bunch of losers criticize him.
-
Good video, but you stood directly in front of the measurement process.
-
thanks so much i was trying to sell my bike on gumtree and no idea how to measure it so thanks

It is possible nowadays to run a video or program without all the damn pop up ads and other intrusive graphics?
-
cool. I knew that was it...thanks

cool. I knew that was it...

Your arm is in the way!

I'm fairly certain this no loner works on modern frames. Its more common to have top tubes that slope down or are angled down and clamp the seat tube lower for the same size of frame, resulting in more seat tube extension. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

what if the top of the seat tube goes above the horizontal bar? For example mine goes 3" past.
