How To Install A Single Chainring On Your Mountain Bike

You won't get as many gear options as you would with a double chainring, but 1x does suit a lot of riders. Consider the size of chainring you need and try to get as straight a chain line as possible. #askgmbn do you need to get a new rear derailer when converting your drive chain to a one by setup or do you just adjust it to suit the new cassette
-
Can't you just use the chainring that came on the bike?
-
I converted to 1x9 and when at the top or bottom of the cassette if I go over a bump the chain falls off I don't have a chain guide or a narrow wide chainring how can I stop the chain from falling off

Hi guys, I've got a 3x9 on my cannondale Jekyll 4 2015 at the minute (don't know why cannondale did that!) but I want to go to 1x. Can I just put a hope t-Rex on the cassette so I don't need to change my mech and wheel/hub? On the hope website it says for 10 and 11 speed but I'm sure the same principle applies?
Thanks! -
Can you, and is it worth, swapping a 2x setup to single setup with a larger crank for extra speed?
I'm looking to buy a cyclocross bike that comes with a 2x setup but I heard they're inherently slower than road bikes.
I do a bit of off road/country trails but am mostly on roads with lots of steep hills and can only have one bike. -
I just did this last night, my chain keeps falling off...

Any knows how to check the bcd? I measured mine and it says 80mm, it's too small i believe.

FOR ANYONE: I have a 2015 Giant Anthem Advanced 2 with 2x10 system, running the stock SRAM X9 Type 2 rear derailleur. People tell me my conversion to 1x10 would require replacement of my rear derailleur to a shorter cage, while other videos mention nothing about it. It says roller bearing clutch, so I'm assuming it's the right type I need. Can I run this in a 32T front 1x10 setup?

for a 11-42 10 speed would you go with a 32 or 34 chainring
what is the best chainring for crosscountry bike 32 chainring ? or 34 chainring ? -
Will a one by eight work
-
I'm currently using a 2x9 set-up and planning to switch to 1x9 using a shimano xt m8000 crank. would that work?
-

-
for a 11-36 10 speed would you go with a 32 chainring
-
How do you replace the back caset into a wider range?
-
do 1x7 setup is okay

if i'm running a 3 x 9 now and want to go with the 1 x 11, will i need a new shifter lever and derailleur to get it to shift through all 11 gears? seeing as it only shifts through 9 at the moment. (if that makes sense). i mean how will it be able to shift the extra 2 slots?
is it just down to the high and low adjusters? -
I have a 3x8 and I really like having 24 gears. But I would love a 1 by setup. Is there 1x24's?
