Thanks for reply. Indeed, didnt pay attention to that. -
ive never had a road bike before. i had a 54 frame boardman hybrid. im 5 feet 11 in height with a 32 inside leg. i went for a planet x carbon pro and they said a medium frame, which they said is the equivalent of a 54 cm frame. the seat sits at the same height as my boardman but the frame seems so much smaller. is this normal because its a roadbike? would really love some feed back, thanks. oh and my bike also has a sloping head tube.

Thank you for the clarification.

what i'm most interested in is what actual difference does the right fit make. we're talking about single centimeters and degrees here, so that doesn't seem very significant. how long or how far do you have to ride until you can be sure that you have the right fit, if you don't feel any pain on usual rides? i'm a recreational/commuting rider.

This was really helpful. Many thanks for taking time out to demonstrate a basic bike set up. Thanks for saving my knees etc.

Quick and informative video. Thanks.

Is it worth spending 300 bucks on a proper bike fit?

I recently purchased a used mountain bike, but have been doing a lot of road cycling on it just because that is what's near me. It's a men's bike but I'm a woman so the frame is a bit big. The top tube feels especially long, and for the way you sit on a mountain bike (with the seat not being above the handle bars) it seems like a far reach. I have fitted the seat height, but have yet to fit the rest. When I ride I get a lot of pain in the muscle just above the knee (vastus medialis muscle probably?). Do you have suggestions for what position could be causing this pain?

All any cyclist has to do is LOOK at how uncomfortable this guy looks on this bike. He was too far back and most likely sitting too high for his flexibility.
Also, many high end European bike makers make bikes with VERY long Effective Top Tubes that fit very few. Cervelo may make longer top tubed bikes and no amount of finaggling or stem swapping or flipping is going to help when the bike's EFFECTIVE TOP TUBE doesnt fit the rider. -
Thanks! Great tutorial!
