don`t for get to check for seized seat posts especially with vintage older bikes
that sat outside, you might have to ask the seller to adjust the seat for you or take a wrench or allen keys with you to check for your self if the seller has no tools

Buying a dirty-ass cheap bike for 30 bucks tomorrow. Can't wait to ride without giving a single fuck about it.

we know that when the bike crashes and gets damaged so what should we do for the scratches on the frame and the fork

quick and efficient video, good job!

Not a bad video. I agree with IdiotBox300. Rear derailleur hangers get bent all the time and can be easily fixed. Search on YouTube for aligning rear derailleur hanger and you'll see how to do it. Also if the chain has a little bit of rust or a stuck link or two that's no big deal. Just oil it; work our the stuck links and that's fixed. What he didn't mention is most people don't change out their chains so if you check the chain stretch you can get a very good idea how much the bike has been ridden and how worn out the drive train is. Google on how to check a chain stretch with a measuring tape by measuring 12 in "12 links" . If it's stretched more than 1/16 then you'll need a new chain. If it's more than 1/8 you'll probably need both a chain and rear cog. If it's stretched more than 3/16 in you'll probably need chain, rear cog, front crank. Kind of think of it he didn't talk about checking play in the crank and wheels. Here's an idea; have the CL person selling the bike meet you at a bike shop and have them go through the bike on a bike stand like this dude did. Most bike shops will do this for free.

informative, Thks!

yeah sorry i meant hangar but didnt type it. I ended up getting steel frame Trek 830. Hangar wasnt bent so I was all good, love that bike so much. Well worth the money.
-
By the way, I know a bit about bikes and I've never heard of it not being replaceable. I think he said this because it's built into the frame, but if that's the case, I think you can get a re-alignment if it gets bent.

He didn't say real derailleur, he said rear derailleur *hanger*. This is the little part on the frame where the derailleur screws in. I'd suggest taking it to a bike shop and asking them if the rear derailleur hanger can be fixed if it gets bent.

So is it best to stay away from steel frame since the rear derailleur cant be replaced? I was going to buy a used Trek 830 1993 but its steel frame but has amazing reviews with durability.
