For my single speed, I took a double chainring and filed off all of the teeth from the larger gear. No more worries from a loose pants leg getting caught in the chain.

Have my old 531 road frame, going turn in into single speed what gearing should I go for, want free wheel

Hey where are you buy chainring please? (sorry if I make spelling mistakes because I'm french).

I just found a great 80's Schwinn, similar, if not the same as, the one you are working on that I plan to convert to a single speed. I am glad I don't need to fork over extra money for a new crankset! Thanks for the great instruction!

Quick question if anyone could help, i'm having a bit of trouble. I have a race bike that i am trying to convert to single speed, and on the rear wheel there is 3 sprockets for the different gears, and the derailer, i want to remove the derailer and leave the three sprockets on the rear wheel and just have the chain run from one of them to the chainring, is this a problem? is it possible or will i have to remove the other remaining sprockets that will not be in use? i basically want to keep the bike the way it is now but remove the derailer and use as single speed. anyone that helps i'd really appreciate it. thanks :)

Am conveting my mtn bike crankset into a 54 tooth <i think> ring. I new it could be done. My front derailleur rapid fire jammed and broke on me. And converting the bike into electric. Waiting for kit to arrive. Cool videos. I am mechanic. I forget sometimes how to do adjustments. thanks.

Be sure to take apart, clean, inspect, replace (parts or whole if necessary) and re-grease the bottom bracket as well. Who knows how long it's been since that bike has been serviced.

I learned most of my bikeskills on your channel. Thank you!

This video explanation was a good help. Thank you!!

You want the smallest chainring you can find.
-
More or less yes, but no one uses a system based on that-- it's all about the number of teeth. But if you want to know, my first gear on my cassette has 11 teeth on it and it is roughly 1 1/4 inches in diameter. I would be willing to be that is fairly standard, so if you do some math you might be able to figure it out.

So the rear gear really doesn't matter much, or do you want that to be big too? Like 2nd, 3rd, 4th, gear?

At least use punctuation/some semblance of grammatical integrity when you're asking strangers for help...it's just common courtesy, man.
