Hardtail Vs. Full Suspension Mountain Bike - What is Faster?
Fahrräder, Tests, online, Rezensionen, Bewertungen
Pro cross country racers are often seen switching from hardtail to full suspension race bikes depending on the track. We test out the new Scott Scale and Spark that have been co developed with Nino Schurter to see which is fastest around the Lenzerheide World Cup XC course. depend in rider.

nice vid of an ancient argument. most top racers prove it other wise in the past few years.
race is a bit more then one lap. rider getting tiered and quality of technical riding is degrading every lap where double suspension will shine.
on top of this its not showing in the vid the rider is very confident on the double sus, looks much mere at home on hard tail (probably the bike used regularly).
to do a proper research, you will defiantly need more riders more laps and varies courses.
GMBN can do beret. -
Maybe the time difference was caused just because you run HardTrail secondly? Maybe you got more used with the track...
Did you know the track very well before? Were you use to it?
Thank you for the video. -
How big was the stone drop
-
Those bikes are so sick
-
I think a full sus would be faster if it had lockout?
-
Ich love the effects when he stand apart of the track an the same person came a cross with the bike, but how you do this? 2 spread videos and cut together ore green screen ?
-
I prefer hardtail. I feel more stable than on a full suspension
-
both bikes are on 26"?
-
I new hard tale was going to win for this track
-
My cross country bike is a hardtail!
-
is it 29 or 650b?
-
if u used lockout the full sus would have won

Awesome video! Just some commentary as a XC racer myself: there were no constant variables; no power meter, no HR monitor, etc. You guys had no way to measure/ensure that the same amount of power/effort was put in with the hardtail and the full-sus. Thus it is inaccurate/impossible to say which one is faster as there was no way of checking or ensuring that the same amount of effort was put in to each bike. Because you will put, by default, more power into a hardtail as it is harder to keep grip and thus you climb a steep technical section faster because of your fear of spinning out and losing grip; NOT because a hardtail is necessarily lighter or that it climbs better/faster. I'm not a hater, I'm just stating my opinion on behalf of the experiences I've had with the Scale 900RC and Spark 900RC

I got in to riding because of these guy, damn u
-
did you have to press one of the brakes for the front suspension to work?
-
but u can turn full into hardtail :)

Which MTB should I get? Bergamont Revox LTD or Scott Aspect 910?
These are the only two that I will choose from and I'm not sure which one is better equipped.
Prices:
Bergamont Revox LTD 950 €
Scott Aspect 910 1000€
The price difference is absolutely irrelevant to me as I only care about which one has better equipment. -
Is it me or are cross country hardtail frames kinda ugly compared to like a dirt jumper frame
-
First of all full suspension bikes go way faster on trails than hard tails. They have more traction, root or rocks gardens aren't a problem, and their just better bikes. I had a hardtail and yet it sucks riding because you can't do jumps, and bumps suck. Uphill can be nicer, but on a full suspension, you can lock it out.
