Moab, located in eastern Utah, cannot be described as anything less than an adventure paradise. With otherworldly terrain, extensive trail systems, easy access and world class community support, it's a place we've always dreamed of exploring. For Part 1 of our series, we find our incredible team of cousins and uncles spending the day ripping around the Amasa Back system. One of the classic rides of Moab. It ascends from Kane Creek on the Colorado River just west of Moab, climbing up onto an outcropping of rock surrounded on three sides by the Colorado. One of the highlights is that it easily links up with other area trails. For example, when combined with Pothole Arch, Rockstacker, and Captain Ahab, it's a 27km 914m vertical adventure through technical challenges. Make sure you DO NOT underestimate the heat and the dehydration factor. Even in the fall, our team was nearly crippled towards the end of our 6 hour ride by the brain-melting heat and the rate at which we consumed our drinks. Play it safe and take WAY more than you need... You never know who you might be able to help out along the way.
