Competitive Cyclist shows you how to overhaul your Fox forks and shocks
Fahrräder, Tests, online, Rezensionen, Bewertungen
Forks and rear shocks can be intimidating. Many folks are just too hesitant to take on any work themselves and then the parts go too long without proper service. Go ahead and give it a shot. You might be shocked to see how easy it really is.

Is there a rubber seal on the bottom of the right tube in this fork? I have similar ie F80 32 and there is no such thing, I wonder if it's missing something.

I know this video is old, but @7:57 you put the aluminum washer at the interface of the fork housing and push rod, and then put the crush washer against the aluminum washer. So, you're sealing the interface between the alloy nut and the washer, but not the aluminum washer and the fork housing. The interface between the fork housing and the aluminum washer seems to me a likely source for a slow leak. Am I missing something there?

Seal "should come out easily"? bullshit.

my forks are stuck in there lowest position. They don't move at all. What do i do?

0:20, voice break lol

according to fox you should use the fork oil not the fload fluid pillow oil on the foam rings
-
atf - as in auto transmission fluid? - Any atf fluid or a high grade one?
-
Did you use synthetic oil for all parts of the process - like lubing and refilling the reservoir?

First I want to thank you for this video. It is very helpful. I also have a question. The seals are new and put in place property by a pin device I bought, but they still come off once I put the fork together. The fomme ring is OK and in place. But wiper or seal keeps coming off into the bar.I have seen some bike with covers on the wiper but I don't know how to get it. I have also an idea to put superglue around the outer section of the wiper for it to held in place. Please help. Thank you.

can you tell me how to remove the bushings ? many thanks

once a year.

I was gonna ask the same thing
-
How often do you have to do all this?
-
I use the atf for both fluids. Lube and supension. Works great.

Pfffft i use amsoil super synthetic atf. No kidding and i rag the f--- out of my forks. Many offroad adventures. Many cleanings. No scratches, no gap issues. However... i did replace the seals with high grade polyurethane when i got my fox forks.

One thing. You should put the axel in once you take the lowers off

I have a tattoo of a watch on my wrist. Mine always reads 'beer time'

Its 2012. Save up some money, and buy a newer one. 2003, its most likely just gone to shit, and is definately not worth spending money to make it maybe work again
-
actually the video is delayed

Nothing wrong with that. If the market bears $75 for 10 minutes of work, then charge that. Some car mechanics will charge you 70 bucks just to read OBD II codes from your engine, which you can do in 30 seconds with a $20 dollar OBD2-USB cable off eBay, your laptop, and some free software.
