29 is better......but ive been riding 26 for years and I don't wanna change
-
I used to work at Performance and they don't carry both sizes. Its only 29ers for Performance, at least the one I was at. I don't know anyone who carries a 26" wheeled mountain bikes anymore.

hello thier im around 5,2 to 5,4 (foot) what bike frame should i go for
-
hello,i need help, will a 15.5 inch Trek Scratch fit me??
am 172cm tall -
1 week ago I purchased a 29er. I felt a huge difference from the 26 I've had for years. the 26 will only accelerate faster
under the correct gear tooth ratio. I think if they had the same, a 29 is faster. that's the 1st thing I noticed right away. how much faster it is. BUT... it has a diff gear tooth set-up. yes I do miss the shorter wheelbase of the 26". The 29 takes the curves but your body has to move a little differently to allow for them.-> Last night I took a circle too sharp and almost laid it down lol . oops
as far as Tire Pressure ( at least for street commuting ) I've found that 50PSI is the best. any lower seems to be slower moving.
For Trail riding I would probably say a lower PSI would be better for grip and larger obstacles.
I had to add a riser to the neck post as the manufacturer cut it WAY too short for a 6' man. then I added beach cruiser handlebars for a better height because I have long legs and the seat post had to come up quite a bit to allow me to almost straighten my legs out w/a slight bend. ( **THEN I added a 3 foot aluminum extension Ladder just to GET on the seat ...... : )
the crossbar is 31" from the ground to the seat post and 37" to the neck post.
Normally I don't like fork suspension but on THIS 29 I like it alot. go figure.
all in all I like the 29 better but let's see in 6 months. October 11th what my opinion is.
PS we don't have a "Performance Cycle " 34952 maybe you want to branch out. West Palm Beach is only an hour South.

+PKK Sk8t3rb0y Yes, there is a wide range in pricing for mountain bike tires but but at Performance Bicycle it usually doesn't very by the tire size. Also a great tire doesn't always have to be the most expensive. An office favorite here at Performance Bicycle happens to be the Forte Pisgah and it just happens to be one of our lowest priced tires. 29er

I've had many 26" but I just decided to buy my first 29er. I'm quite short rider (a little under 170 cm), but with a medium size frame the 29er fits me better than a 26" bike. The bigger wheel feels amazing and it's so fast. Any small object is like nothing.
-
I use to be a staunch 26er. Then, I bought my first 29er. The bigger wheel size is not just an improvement, but completely energizes my riding to a new level. A smoother power transfer is the most critical advantage of the bigger wheel.
I'm coming back on all the videos on Google's Youtube to retract my previous comments against the 29er. -
My current Mtb has 27.5 inch
-
good explanation
-
At this point, Jun-2014, 29" is already dead.
27.5" is expected to follow the same path as 29" shortly.
26.75" will be in order for the next year. -
i have a 29er but i don't care what every one eals rides

Good vid, thanks for posting it !

My hope is that 29'ers won't completely replace 26" bikes the way 700c has replaced 27" bikes. Older bikes have fewer and fewer tire options these days and it's a bit discouraging. Oh, and ever try to find a 27x1 tire? There's like one choice out there (Panaracer Pasela), and forget about trying to find the replacement rim. Oh, and great video! Performance Bike's YouTube channel is chock full of helpful tips and tricks. They've helped me keep my bikes in great shape!
