5. I was amazed that this worked on my 20 year old shifter which was not working. I just opened up the bottom cover and spray a decent amount of WD-40 and it was working within 30 secs.

12. RJ, great video and I sprayed my shifters with a ton of WD-40 and they still aren't shifting properly. Should I take my shifter apart and visually see if the paw is gunked-up?

13. Hey RJ I have this shimano deore xt shifter capable of shifting up to 9 gears but the thing is it now only shifts up to five why does this happen ? and how do I fix it thanks :)
14. this is the if all else fails method for me, these a secret no one will ever tell you RJ , 8 out of 10 times it works, hit it with wd 40 then hit it with a hair dryer for a few mins being mindful of plastic parts then lube it up with whatever you like. i learned this trick in a high end shop, cost is low and they charge you the same and you don't know any better.
15. Dear Mr.RJ,
    I got a mountainbike that fitted with a shimano megarange. It won't get to the smallest cog (ok, you've sort that one out). But the most frustating thing is that because it has a ci-deck indicator, and from 1st gear, it won't change to 2nd until the indicator shows 4th gear (out of 7), so basically I only have 12 gears instead of 21. How to overcome this?? Thank you

    This happened on a new bicycle about 10wks old. It is a 1x. The bicycle still shifts but must hold down the lever to keep it in gear. Otherwise, it will shift back to the hardest gear. in other words: it won't stay in the intended gear. Any ideas? Cheers!
17. this was very helpful. thanks a lot. I've got shimano rapid fire shifters. there pretty pricy in replacing. my 1 through 4 gear stopped catching all together and the shifter caught after gear 5. so I fallowed the instructions, and about 4 minutes of using just a dab of pbr blaster. takes the grease away completely. it worked awesome. ad some lower gear grease. which is an 80w90 haven't had a problem since. thanks so much.

Hello RJ a friend of mine has the rst blaze rl and the problem is that where the uppers meet the lowers you know above the bushing the paint of the uppers has started to get removed so the bare metal is visible is this a problem and therefore they need service or this is normal and bound to happen over time thanks.
19. My derraileur is too close to my cassette it keeps on hitting it and wont move when I adjust plus is it better if I shorten my bike chain
