Bicycle Headset Installation 101
Fahrräder, Tests, online, Rezensionen, Bewertungen
Installing a complete headset on a pre-cut steerer tubed fork.. This bike had been prepped by removing the old headset and old crown race. The tools to complete this task are not usually available in shops but can be obtained by special orders. Hey all, 2/3/2013, I had no idea this video would become this popular. thanks for the comments and likes. I'm super stoked about it. Please feel free to message me if there's something you'd like to see on here.

Damn, you are pro. Very clean work.

If I had all these tools I wouldn't need to watch a video on how to install a headset.
-
how can I replace the star nut I accidentally broke it
-
What tool is that used for installing the crown race?
-
Now, where did I put that headset press......
-
101 easy, make sure you have the fancy tools I have at my disposal in my shop and you are set!
-
throw the cups in the freezer for two hours and they will slide even more easily

Why dont manufacturers use threaded headtube cups on bicycle frames as well as press fit?

Hi Thank you so much for making this video. Is it normal for most 1 x 1/8" fork steer tube to be slightly wider at the bottom? my steer tube bore measures 28.5 mm, but it is 30 mm at the bottom. Is this normal? I have to install my crown race so I am not even sure whether 1.5mm extra width could crack or damage the crown race. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for posting this video. I will give it a try, and will do the oven heat trick as well.

can I use hammer to put it in place?
-
that sucks if you dont have the tools :)

How is remove the headset anchor, On my bike need replace.

Not the best guidance, a few key issues: You should install the top cap and bottom cup SEPARATELY. As in, press the top cap in first, then press the bottom cup. Pressing both at the same time is risky, because it's likely that the cups won't start going in even, which could damage (groove) your head tube, especially on carbon frames. Second, for carbon frames you should grease the headset caps - otherwise they will oxidize and will be very difficult to remove later. This video feels rushed and sloppy.
-
You should rename the video.. "this is how fast I can do something half assed"
-
great video but consider the fact that there are only some people here with stem tools. You should have shown how to install without those stem specific tool. anyway thanks

No grease needed...anywhere?
-
Nice quick video showing the overall process. Thanks!

Its not done yet.. Haha..
-
But i like the video presentation...thanks a lot

It seems there is no lower bearings installed in the lower bearing cup, normally after installing the crown race to the steering tube, install the upper or lower bearings cup, then install the lower bearing to the steering tube, after installing, insert the steering tube, followed by the upper bearing installation etc.
