Great vid. I would like to see a video on front to rear sprocket alignment. SRAM offers 0, 3, and 6mm offsets. Where is the optimal alignment? I want to convert my Specialized Epic 29".

@artscyclery I upgraded to Shimano XT 1x11 earlier this year but I've always lusted after SRAM XX1 and XO1. Kind of contemplating upgrading to the SRAM drivetrain you just recommended and sticking with the XT brakes. 1) Is this a completely unnecessary upgrade, and 2) Can you comment on the shifting performance vs Shimano XT 1x11.
I've just heard that the SRAM setup is lighter and the shifting is even more insane than Shimano.
Thanks! -
do you think one day we'll see a 1x7 drivetrain, with a 10t-50t range?
Yes, with big "jumps" between each cassette. The front derrailleur was already doing that job =p So the rear one could theoretically do it too. I really don't feel like I need all those gears. Just the range, 10t to 50t = D and maybe a single 34t in the front. -
I love SRAM but really hate how they name their products.

I'm wanting a SRAM drive train. I already have SRAM X1 cranks, chainring, and chain, but have Shimano SLX cassette, deraileur, and shifter. My question is this: If I get a SRAM X01 shifter and a SRAM X1 deraileur, will it work with my SLX cassette? My lbs says I'll have to replace my hub to use a SRAM X1 or better cassette. Also, if it will work, will I still get the benefits from SRAM's easy shifting and such? Ideally, I want a SRAM drive train and Shimano brakes. Thanks so much!!

WAY to PITCH and SELL "SRAM" ... how about making a video using all the drive trains and showing the difference in build and price quality for whatever you have in your shelves.
-
how about a mix with GX components? is it worth it even if it's really cheap (affordable) compared to these 3?

Hi there, could do with some advice if ok please bud, I have a sram xo1 set up on my bike, 1x11, race face crank but xo1 sprocket, derailleur and shifter, problem is my chain goes down the gears/ sprocket whilst in 1st on the backpedal, my chain is kmc, so could that be the problem, do I need a sram chain? Would of thought my bike would of come with one, not a cheap bike either, is odd and v frustrating as its my new dream bike, I appreciate you don't really pedal backwards whilst in 1st and hardly use it but should still not happen, any ideas!? Thought the chain as they have this new style thin thick on the sram sprockets!? Hope to hear from you with any advice, bike shops seem to say it's just the way it is, not good enough in my mind 😃👍

Hi,
I'm considering running a 1x10 road setup with an old Shimano 5600 grouppo. I will run either a 34t or 36t cassette with a Shimano Deore M592 rear derailleur at the back (I believe its the same cable pull ratio as 10spd road sti's) and a 52t chainring at the front.
Do you recommend wide narrow chainrings for road (tarmac) only applications or would single speed/multi speed chainrings be OK? -
What chain ring options are available in 26 t or 28 t for x1 1400 cranks?
-
Great videos. Can you please do one on changing the front 32 t chainring on X1 1400 crankset to a 26 or 28 tooth direct mount chainring?
-
Can you make a new video. budget sram . Now that SRAM GX has come out . -
Sorry ART , The XX1 Cassette is 260g 15g lighter than the X01 Cassettte @ 275g.
-
Great video, a real world breakdown of where to put your $$$.
-
