2016 July 5 - Midweek MTB Snowbird XC Mountain Bike Race

This is my helmet cam video of the Midweek MTB cross country mountain bike race at Snowbird Resort, close to Salt Lake City, Utah, on July 5th, 2016. This race was 2 laps, totaling about 8.2 miles with 1240 feet of climbing. Due to a long vacation, getting sick, and pulling a back muscle from the previous race, this was my first time riding a mountain bike since the Tuesday race three weeks ago, and, other than a short mellow road ride the day before, really my first time riding any bike at all in three weeks. Because of this I had lost a lot of my strength, energy, and stamina. It was especially painful on the first lap too. Hopefully I can get some endurance back before this race season ends. I was testing the 2016 Fezzari Timp Peak for the first time. What a bike! This was one of the bumpiest trails I have raced on so I was very grateful for the 150mm of suspension. This was also my first time riding the new SRAM Eagle 1x12 with the 10-50 cassette. I love 1X drivetrains and never want to ride with another front derailleur, but for the first time in a long time I never felt like I wished a had a little more range.
