Rad... i have magura brakes and i fucking hate them. squeaky as shit and noisy like a MF.
-
i use the discs in my saints! :D
-
My prev shitty mechanical brakes made the screeching noises only after continuous braking, so it's probably the heat. Hopefully the xt's i just got don't sound as loud.

hello my friend, my friend and me ride in a trail that is about 8-10 min. The 1st 300-500m or sth the trail has a big rocky and narrow downhill. So the front brake starts making a big noise, sth like howling. I asked some experts in a specialised shop and did say the same thing i was thinking about. Due to the demanding trail and because i use the front brake continously, the brake overheats and so the noise is normal. Have u had the same experience ?

Nice Bike !

Never been really impressed with Avid's to be honest ...These xt's however , a complete new level of discbrake in my opinion, love them !

Hi. Tell me please where you can take the banjo and banjo bolt for XT M785? Thank you.

are u kiding me avids ar the worst brakes ever to bleed shimano systems are the easiest brakes to bleed
-
HAS anyone had a chance to bleed the new One Way Bleed System for the 2012's? I must say , I hope they aren't making the bleeding more like AVID's system. Ive always loved the open / 1 syringe reservoir deal. Is their supposed to be some new long tube thing that fits into the bleed hole at the lever? Is there a 2012 specific bleed kit now. I was thinking of building a set with some extra parts off ebay.

@bikeandcarp14 (cont) Some people say that mineral is less efficient than DOT due to the effect heat has on it. but SHIMANO has been working with it for so long that heat has long been factored out. HENCE the term ICE rotors. These new XT's are the most comfortable/ strong 1 finger brakes Ive ever used and the price is insane. roughly 130.00 per wheel. USD. Shimano is looking to unseat Avid as an OEM company with these prices.

@bikeandcarp14 I would seriously question the intellect of your LBS staff. Shimano has ALWAYS used mineral oil. I have been using the Shimano now for the last 2 years. Ive used in the past , Hayes, Magura, Avid, Formula and have now SETTLED w/ Shimano for their quality, simplicity, and strength. SWorking w/ mineral oils is a pleasure. DOT fluid is sooo harsh and tough to bleed w/out contaminating the brakes.

Pretty nice stuff!

What is this for a Calour on the FRAME????

@bikeandcarp14 on the other hand.. Mineral oil is so noble, they use it on babies (Johnson's baby oil is just mineral oil with perfume, you can check it out in the reverse of the bottle). By the way, you can use johnson's baby oil with shimano brakes in an emergency if you ran out of oil (I've donet it once and it worked flawlessly).. of course, when you get the time, replace it with shimano's oil.

@bikeandcarp14 DOT fluid is HIGHLY corrosive. if spilled onto your paint it's gonna remove it from the very bottom. I've owned 3 generations of shimano brakes (XTR M965, XTR M975 and now XT M785) and I can tell you mineral oil is VERY easy to handle and working with and it would give you no problems at all. Shimano are one of the very best brakes out there!
