Thanks - I am building out a touring bike and want to use a 1/11 and this was the information I needed.

You brought up Colorado. I know a lot of guys running 1x for tt and I use it for crits. 2x for hill climbs

On the Garneau tri bike it appears the crankset (Sram Force1 50t) was the only purchased component piece to make it a 1x although I can't verify who makes the chain or cassette, can you confirm? How did this setup work, pretty smooth? I'm going to build a 1x setup on my TT bike but if I don't have to buy the whole Sram Force 1x group to make it work, only perhaps a new chainring or crankset that is quite a $$ savings. Any feedback would be appreciated!!

Did you have to change the freewheel to put the XG-1180 Cluster on or the rear derailleur hangar for the force1 rear derailleur? I was thinking of switching to a 1X system to eliminate dropping chains up front which really kills a ride. I'm assuming I would have to switch the crankset I have which is SRAM S150 everything else on my bike is SRAM APEX 50/34 with a 11-32 cassette, therefore, I believe the setup you have in the video would be even better than that, however, If I switched I would probably go with the Rival1 system to save some money.

Thank for the vid Jeff. I have been watching developments with 1x setup for some time. I don't race but like to do long endurance rides when time allows. I also have a neurological condition known as foot drop where I am very weak pulling up with my toes with my right foot. One of the things that helps folks like me is to run ovalized chainrings as they help get you through the dead spot in your pedal stroke when you're normally pulling up. (long story short) Do you have any advice/experience running oval rings on 1x setups? I know Rotor, Absolute Black and some others are now making 1x specific oval rings for CX & road...? Thanks again for the vid! :)
